Stroke can happen to anyone at any age. In the late summer of 2009, two life changing events happened to my family. I gave birth to a baby boy, and he had a stroke. It may be hard to believe, but my son had an ischemic stroke just hours before he was born.
David Morgan IV, or D as we call him, is hitting all of his milestones and shows no residual effects of his stroke. He will always have an increased risk for having another stroke, but we are doing everything possible to reduce that risk. We are truly blessed. The reason I share this with you is that all too often, I hear people say that a stroke could never happen to them, or that they are too young to worry about that. My family and I are here to tell you that everyone is at risk for stroke.
Please, take a few minutes to learn the signs and symptoms, do what you can to lower your risk, and if you see someone you think might be having a stroke, call 911 immediately. Together, we can save lives.
